I have thought long and well about this topic of the presentation of the data in the family tree. In today’s world, everyone who uses the Internet reveals more or less a lot of themselves. Many social sites, such as Facebook, reveal data that you do not personally share with your own neighbour.

On the other hand, there are also people who keep your data under lock and key as far as possible. That too is to be accepted. So, as the operator of a genealogy web page, you have to find a middle ground for your family. And I hope to have found him. In doing so, the case law of the Federal Republic of Germany and the general sense of justice are incorporated into my determinations.

DATA PRESENTATION OF LIVING PERSONS

Basically, it is necessary to distinguish between publicly accessible data and the data displayed for registered members of this web page.

For unregistered users (i.e. every Internet user) of this web page

Unregistered users of the website only have access to the general part of the website, but NO more access to the family tree.

For registered users (i.e. registered members of this portal = family members) of this web page

View the full existing data from living people. Here is also the ulterior motive that someone might want to get in touch with another member of the family.

However, no address data and phone numbers and email addresses are published. Such requests must be made through the family archive and will only be sent after consultation with the relevant family member.

DATA PRESENTATION OF DECEASED PERSONS

The data of deceased persons is displayed in full. However, registration is also necessary for this purpose.

WHAT DO I HAVE TO DO IF I DON’T WANT TO SEE ANY DATA FROM ME IN THE CLOSED AREA?

In this case, you can contact us. I will then exclude your “page” from the publication. This means that no one can access your detailed data anymore. But, your public data remains in the family tree and is also displayed, after all, you belong to the family. The public data is a name and first name.

I hope that all safety requirements are met. If you have any questions, please contact me using the general contact form.
