The Old Franconian name Huber is related. Hobemann is the Hessian variant and Havemann/Hamann Is Low German.

Hoffmann was the most common professional name in Silesia, corresponding to the West and Southern German Meier, i.e. estate managers at stately farms, also on country estates of patricians
